Photo access

WanderJournal uses Apple's system photo picker. Tap the + button, optionally add photos, and choose only the photos you want to use. The app does not browse your full library without your selection.

Private AI

Photo understanding and journal writing run on your iPhone. If the Private AI download is not installed, open Settings and download it over Wi-Fi. No cloud AI account or paid AI tokens are required.

Missing place details

WanderJournal uses only GPS metadata embedded in selected photos. If no photo GPS is available, the journal remains usable but omits place and map claims. An internet connection is required to look up nearby place context.

iCloud backup and restore

When you are signed in to iCloud, saved journals can sync through your private CloudKit database. Reinstall the app and use the same Apple Account to restore synchronized journals. Downloaded AI files and original voice audio are not backed up.

Export or delete data

Open Settings to export all journals or permanently delete all journals. When iCloud sync is active, journal deletions synchronize to your other devices. Individual entries can also be shared or deleted from their detail screen.
